October 13, 2010: Knives of Spain
When I had the opportunity to shoot Knives of Spain musician Gwen Young, I knew exactly what the backdrop should be, the fair midway. Luckily the Dixie Classic Fair was just around the corner. Whether desolate or crowded, there is always something haunting about the midway. Gwen and I, along with producer Gretta Kohler and makeup artist Sarah Belle Eckard took to the fair on Sunday evening, weaving in and out of fair goers, rides and the occasional puzzled look. No corner was left undiscovered as Gwen, with her accordion, flute and confidence in hand, beautifully played while interlacing herself amongst the crowd. Gwen told us later, "Thanks for making me look like a dreamy, spooky, beautiful apparition from the 1939 World's Fair." It was my pleasure Gwen!
