December 7, 2012: Jamie Foxx Makes My Day!

Hello! For those of you that have been following me for the past few months, you know I became one of the winners in Ron Howard and Canon's Project Imaginat10n. I sincerely want to thank all of you who voted for my image Let My Machine Talk To Me and made it one of the 10 winners in the Relationship Category. I am extremely excited to announce that Jamie Foxx has picked my image for his short film. When asked several months ago out of all the celebrity directors who would I want to use my photo, I said Mr. Foxx. So, I am stoked about this announcement!

All of the short films will go into production in 2013. There will be a film festival sometime during the summer.

See a video here of Jamie's picks! And stay tuned to the Project Imaginat10n website for the latest updates!

October 15, 2012: A Very Special Announcement

Last month I found out that I was selected as a finalist in the Relationship category of Canon and Ron Howard's Project Imagination contest. The image they selected was Let My Machine Talk To Me. This image was taken this past spring shortly before my friend who was modeling moved to Hawaii. The image holds a special meaning for both of us.

I want to thank everyone for putting up with my badgering through social media as well as in person. I appreciate all of your votes. See the video below for a special message from me. (Since I don't like to hear myself recorded I found a Bob Dylan approach around it.)

Stayed tuned at Project Imagination and my website!

A little update on the other model. According to her owner, the robot has a bit of a swelled head this morning as she greets visitors outside her studio.

September 12, 2012: Project Imagination

I just posted about how music is such an inspiration for me. My favorite R.E.M. song for years has been World Leader Pretend.  I always got chills during the part of the song that said, "reach out for me, hold me tight, hold that memory, let my machine talk to me, let my machine talk to me". I had to create a image to express that song.

It was one of those situations where everything seemed to come together perfectly. I had acquired a robot (the machine) from a new friend and knew the perfect model (who loved robots). She is a dear friend of mine and moved away to the other side of the world only a few weeks after this image was taken. It has great meaning to both of us.

On a whim I entered it in Ron Howard's Project Imagination and found out that I am a finalist in the Relationship category. This contest is like no other; images inspire short films and a film festival. The idea that my image Let My Machine Talk To Me could come alive on the big screen gives me chills.

I sincerely hope that each of you will take a minute to register and vote. You can find and vote for my image HERE. (Click on the top right to register. You know your vote went through when the checkmark turns bright white. You can vote once per day per email address.) Voting on my theme will end September 24th.
